For many years, Spain has been a popular place for digital nomads due to its pleasant climate, incredible cities, relatively affordable cost of living, and countless recreational activities that make Spain a favorite destination for those coming for a season. However, until recently, many digital nomads could only stay in Spain for a maximum of 3 months with a tourist visa, but this changed with the Digital Nomad Visa, and here at Denkool Corporate Living, we are ready to welcome you and ensure you have a magnificent stay while you work and enjoy both Barcelona and Girona, where we offer a wide range of rooms and services to make you feel at home.
The Digital Nomad Visa allows you to be a temporary resident in another country while continuing to work (and pay taxes) in your country of origin. In most cases, digital nomads are exempt from paying taxes in their host country.
Here are the requirements to apply:
- You can apply if you are a remote worker or freelancer from a non-EU country.
- You can be a freelancer working for various clients or be employed by a specific organization that has granted you permission to work remotely from abroad. Both options are available to you.
- You must have maintained a professional relationship with your clients or worked for the organization for at least three months before submitting your application.
Additionally:
- The company you work for must have existed for at least one year.
- You need to have at least three years of experience working in your sector, or demonstrate that you meet the necessary requirements, such as a degree or professional certificate obtained from a recognized higher education institution in the sector.
- At the time of processing your application, you cannot be residing in Spain illegally, but if you are here as a tourist or with another authorization to stay in Spain, you can process your residence without needing to return to your country of origin.
- Lastly, you must be able to prove that you have no criminal record and have sufficient financial means.
